You are receiving this important message because you are registered with USA Hockey and are considered an Associate Member of the Utah Amateur Hockey Association (UAHA). UAHA has adopted a new set of Bylaws requiring that all positions on the Board of Directors, including the Officers of the Association, be opened to a general election. A copy of these new Bylaws can be found on the UAHA web page at http://www.utah-hockey.org/page/show/145143-uaha-bylaws-and-pandp. You are highly encouraged to read and understand the document.
Per the new Bylaws, Article 5, Section 1, the Members of the Association (UAHA) shall have the responsibility to elect persons to the Board of Director positions. Members are defined as Associations or other entities located within UAHA’s geographical area which registers amateur hockey teams with USA Hockey, enters into a Member Agreement with UAHA and has a Member number (previously referred to as a Sub-Affiliate Number).
The new Board of Directors will consist of 14 members; 1) the President; 2) Executive Vice-President; 3) Secretary; 4) Treasurer; 5) House Section Vice-President (representing non-Tier); 6) Travel Section Vice-President (representing Tier I & Tier II); 7) High School Section Vice-President; 8) Girl’s/Women’s Section Vice-President: 9) Adult Section Vice-President; 10) Disabled Section Vice-President; 11) Vice-President of Discipline/Appeals; 12) State Registrar (non-voting, non-elected, appointed by USA Hockey); 13) State Coaching Education Program (CEP) Coordinator (non-voting, non-elected, appointed by USA Hockey); and 14) the Immediate Past President (non-voting).
The election process includes two important meeting dates:
Each Section will elect their Member Representative per the following process which is detailed in the Bylaws:
Each Team, if not rostered under a Member Association, and each Member Association (formerly referred to as Sub-Affiliates) must elect/select the person to represent them at theMember Representative Election. This person must immediately send their contact information to the existing Secretary of UAHA (Lisa D'urso, email@example.com) no later than June 19, 2015. Detailed instructions on the election process will be given to the Member Association Representatives, the Presidents of each of the Member Associations, and to Team representatives before June 24, 2015. If a representative is not identified, the instructions will be emailed to a person previously identified as a responsible person with the organization, or someone known to the existing Board of Directors.
This is an exciting time for Utah Hockey. It is imperative that you participate in the process in order to elect the best person to represent them for each position on the Board of Directors. Please make comments and recommendations to your Team Representatives, Trustees, and Member Association Directors and Officers.
Nominations for the positions detailed in paragraph 3 above must be submitted on or before June 22, 2015 at 5:00 pm. If nominating someone for a position on the Board of Directors, please verify that they are willing to serve and provide a brief bio of their qualifications. These Bios will be posted on the UAHA website (www.utah-hockey.org). Nominations must be submitted to the existing Secretary of UAHA (Lisa D'urso (firstname.lastname@example.org), and copied to Kathleen Smith, existing President of UAHA (email@example.com). Please note that per the Bylaws, nominations for the President of UAHA must be one of the persons on the existing UAHA Board of Directors.
