UTAH HOCKEY MEMBERSHIP – NOTIFICATION

GENERAL ELECTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

You are receiving this important message because you are registered with USA Hockey and are considered an Associate Member of the Utah Amateur Hockey Association (UAHA). 

Per the UAHA Bylaws, an election of certain positions on the Board of Directors, including the Officers of the Association, are open to a general election. A copy of these Bylaws can be found on the UAHA web page at http://www.utah-hockey.com/page/show/145143-uaha-bylaws-and-pandp. You are highly encouraged to read and understand the document.

Per Article 5, Section 1, of the Bylaws, the Members of the Association (UAHA) shall have the responsibility to elect persons to the Board of Director positions. Members are defined as Associations or other entities located within UAHA’s geographical area which registers amateur hockey teams with USA Hockey, enters into a Member Agreement with UAHA and has a Member number (previously referred to as a Sub-Affiliate Number). Please read the entire notice.

NOMINATIONS

Nominationsfor the positions detailed in paragraph 5 below must be submitted on or before Friday, March 30, 2019at 5:00 pm. If nominating someone for a position on the Board of Directors, please verify that they are willing to serve.  Nominations must be submitted to the Secretary of UAHA (Linlee Jones (utahamsecretary@gmail.com), and copied to the Executive Vice President of UAHA, Jason Empey (uahaexecvp@gmail.com)) and Derrick Radke, President of UAHA (dradke@allwest.net). Nominees must accept their nomination by sending the following information to the persons noted above: 1) contact information, and 2) a brief bio of their qualifications. If nominated to more than one position, nominees should only accept the nomination to the one position they feel they can best represent based on their experience and passion. The Bios will be posted on the UAHA website (www.utah-hockey.com). All nominations should be for a person who will best represent the Section and who is currently an Associate Member of UAHA (an adult person who is a member of a UAHA Member Association). No “Member Representative” may be nominated for a position on the UAHA Board of Directors if they are a member of a Member Association’s Board of Directors, or a person who may be perceived to benefit financially being a member of the UAHA Board of Directors.

The positions on the Board of Directors open to the General Election in 2019 will consist of 7 members; 1) Executive Vice President; 2) Treasurer; 3) Travel Section Vice-President (representing Tier Youth); 4) Disabled Section Vice President; 5) High School Section Vice-President; 6) Girls/Women Section Vice President; 7) Adult Section Vice-President, 8) Vice-President of Discipline.

 

ELECTION PROCESS

The election process includes two important meeting dates (Please read): 

  1. TheMember Representative Election (nic/High School Section),will be held at 12:00 pmSaturday, April 13, 2019in the World Record Lounge at the Utah Olympic Oval, 5662 Cougar Ln, Salt Lake City, UT 84118 for the purpose of electing a Member Representative who will vote for their Section Vice President and for the General Election of UAHA.   The following Sections must be present:
    1. Disabled
    2. Adult
    3. Girls/Women

All other Member Organizations may inform the President of UAHA in writing via email to dradke@allwest.netof their designated Representative who will cast their votes.

 

  1. The High School Section shall elect their Member Representativeat their regularly scheduled BOD meeting set for 7:00 pm, Tuesday, April 09, 2019at the South Davis Recreation Center Board Room. 

 

  1. The General Electionwill be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2019in the World Record Lounge at the Utah Olympic Oval, 5662 Cougar Ln, Salt Lake City, UT 84118, for the purpose of electing the open positions on the Board of Directors of UAHA. All elected Member Representatives must attend this meeting to cast their votes.

Each Section will elect their Member Representative per the following process which is detailed in the Bylaws:

  • House Section (representing non-Tier) & Travel Section (representing Tier I & Tier II) – Each Youth Member Association shall select their Member Representative. If the Association has both House rostered teams and Travel (Tier I or II) rostered teams, they will need to select both a House and Travel Representative. 
    • For the purpose of the General election, the Member Representative will cast votes calculated as follows:
      • The number of votes for House Section Vice-President and Officers is based on the ratio of House to Travel (Tier) players on their rosters (the Travel Section Member Representative will only vote for the Officer positions up for election). Prior to the General Election final Rosters for the season must be submitted to the Secretary of UAHA (Linlee Jones (utahamsecretary@gmail.com), and copied to theExecutive Vice President of UAHA, Jason Empey (uahaexecvp@gmail.com)) and Derrick Radke, President of UAHA (dradke@allwest.net), on or before Friday, April 12, 2019 at 5:00pm. House and Travel Representatives must be present (including via voice conference call) to vote.
  • The High School Section - Each Trustee shall have one vote for the Member Representative. Must be present (including via voice conference call) to vote.
  • The Adult Section - Each Associate Member present at the meeting and rostered by the Member Association is entitled to vote for the Representative of the Member Association. The Adult Section Member Representative will vote for the Adult Vice President and the Officer positions up for election. Must be present (including via voice conference call) to vote.
  • The Girls and Women Section - Each team of female players shall have one vote for the Member Representative. The Girls and Women Section Member Representative will only vote for the Officer positions up for election. Teams will select the person they want to represent them at this meeting. Must be present (including via voice conference call) to vote.
  • The Disabled Section Section - Each team of disabled players shall have one vote for the Member Representative. The Disabled Section Member Representative will vote for the Disabled Section Vice President and the Officer positions up for election. Teams will select the person they want to represent them at this meeting. Must be present (including via voice conference call) to vote.

 

The elected Section Member Representatives must immediately send their contact information to the Secretary of UAHA (Linlee Jones (utahamsecretary@gmail.com), and copied to the Executive Vice President of UAHA, Jason Empey (uahaexecvp@gmail.com)) and Derrick Radke, President of UAHA (dradke@allwest.net), no later than April 20, 2019 at 5:00pm

General Election

Member Representatives will meet at the time and place noted above, at which time they will cast their PPR votes for their Section Vice President position, and for each of the officers positions open. The ballots will be tallied by two (2) members of the Board of Directors not on the ballot and Derrick Radke, President of UAHA.

This is another exciting time for Utah Hockey. It is imperative that you participate in the process in order to elect the best person to represent them for each position on the Board of Directors open to the General Election. Please make comments and recommendations to your Team Representatives, Trustees, and Member Association Directors and Officers.
